Another Residency Ends

It’s crazy to step back and reflect on how quickly my MFA program has gone by. Wait, flown by. This past week was my final regular residency because I graduate in May.

I’ve been so overwhelmed by all the kindness and support everyone at Queens has shown me—from my cohorts to my professors.

Going to Queens has been one of the joys of my writing life. I’ve also been really grateful for all of the extra opportunities it has offered, with me getting to serve as Fiction Editor at our program’s literary magazine, Qu, and being a contributing writer at Southern Review of Books.

I have a few small group workshop submissions left, a thesis to complete, and a capstone project to put together, but I don’t feel anxious at all. Instead, I’m genuinely excited. I don’t know that I’ve ever had the kind of momentum I’m experiencing in my writing life as I am right now. I’m selling stories. This second collection is taking shape. Ideas are overflowing. I’m very much looking forward to all that is next.

Until May, Queens. Looking forward to it!
