The MFA Reading List: My First Semester Reading List Arrived

I’ve been anxiously awaiting for it to arrive, and it finally did. And the very first book listed is Toni Morrison’s Beloved. (That has to be a sign that this is the program for me.) There are several books (The Great Gatsby, Asymmetry, The Argonauts) and stories (too many to name) that I’ve read before on the list, so that should help get through everything before the May residency at Queens University of Charlotte.

There are several works, especially in poetry, that I’ve never read or heard of. I’m actively trying to be a better reader across all genres, so it’s good to get a list as a guide.

Oh, and there are screenplays, too. Never read one of those.

I’m excited to dive in. Receiving the reading list makes it all real. I’m stoked to get going.
