Release Month Arrives
It’s such a strange process to write a book. You write for months and months and months (and months and months), and when you finally finish, you don’t know what will become of what you’ve created. Maybe it’ll be put in a drawer. Maybe someone will buy it and it’ll be on shelves.
I was lucky to land a nice publisher for my upcoming collection, Crocodile Tears Didn’t Cause the Flood, and I’m even luckier to have one of the best publicists around.
It’s that month when the book finally releases—around a year(ish) since I finished it.
I am both anxious and excited as the release date approaches. The book seems to be doing well in pre-release things. I’ve had several interviews, with many dropping nearer to the end of the month. A few more are happening soon. There are scheduled reviews. There are reading lists, essays, and a playlist. Readings, too. There are lots of just really cool things.
I’m so appreciative for it all. Truly, too. I grew up in the most rural of places, one absent of any kind of art, so to have this incredible experience of releasing two books is something I don’t take for granted. I feel so blessed to be able to share the gift of stories.
Thank you to everyone out there who’s supported my work. I couldn’t do it without you. Family, friends, reviewers, interviewers, booksellers, librarians, and any and everyone else, thank you, thank you, thank you. You’ve helped make my dreams come true once again.
