Fantastic Review from Chapter 16
I read Chapter 16 every morning. Every morning. As I checked the site today, I was greeted with this wonderful review of Crocodile Tears Didn’t Cause the Flood from Abby N. Lewis. It has absolutely made my day.
I’m always curious which stories readers connect with the most. In Lewis’ review, she discusses “The Guide to King George,” “To Take, To Leave,” “Raising Again,” “Nancy R. Melson’s State ELA Exam, Section 1: The Dead-Dead Monster,” and “The Browne Transcript” the most. It’s so cool to see so many of them get some attention.
Another thing that’s really interesting is to see what readers pick up on that I am not even aware of. At one point, she recalls the strong will to live throughout the collection. I honestly never even thought of that. I am also really fascinated by how the endings of my stories pack the essential information to frame the stories. It’s just so, so special to have these thoughtful reads.
I know lots of writers refuse to read reviews of their work, but I love the professional ones. As someone who has bad imposter syndrome, words like the ones from Abby N. Lewis make me feel like maybe I am a writer.
Thank you to the reviewer and to everyone at Chapter 16! Just such a special experience to get these kinds of reviews.
