Mississippi Book Festival, Thank You!

One of my favorite events of the year is the Mississippi Book Festival. Jackson is a beautiful city, with lots to check out, and the Festival is clearly put together by the folks there with a lot of love. I have many great memories from the Festival over the years, including getting to talk to the wonderfully-talented Jesmyn Ward for a short moment.

Although I hoped to go this year, circumstances prevented me from being able to physically make it. Thankfully, I was still able to attend a few sessions virtually, and I’m grateful technology has us in a place that allows such a possibility. Alice Walker, Kiese Laymon, Mary Miller, Lauren Groff, Jennifer Egan, and others were truly inspiring to hear.

As a writer, one of the most invigorating things for my process is hearing other creators talk about their processes. And their respective visions.

Although I wasn’t at the “Lawn Party,” it was still a great day to sit back and be able to soak in all the thoughtful words shared.
